Description: As streaming options proliferate, we think of television today in a moment of upheaval, but the history of television is a history of a medium in flux. This course will provide an overview of television theory and U.S. television history, using specific programs and theoretical concepts to explore major shifts in television's relationship to audiences, technology, and other media-all in an effort to answer, or complicate, the question, "What is television?"
